Almost a decade of scientific development and research was undertaken to create a range of Vital Vegetables® that contains the highest possible levels of naturally occurring antioxidants. Australian researchers from the Victorian Department of Primary Industry worked in partnership with The New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research to develop the natural goodness of Vital Vegetables®, including Booster BroccoliTM.

As the research process began, it became clear that certain varieties of vegetables contained more natural occurring antioxidants. By researching a huge number of varieties of vegetables Australian scientists selected and bred individual selections that naturally produced higher levels of antioxidants.

Booster BroccoliTM, the first Vital Vegetable® to be developed, is 100% natural, neither genetically modified nor artificial in any way andis scientifically proven to contain significantly more sulforaphane (or SF), a powerful antioxidant, than other leading broccoli varieties.

Sulforaphane (SF) is a long-lasting antioxidant that triggers enzymes in the body that help to neutralise free radicals that may cause DNA damage that can in turn lead to cancer and other serious health problems. Regular consumption of foods containing SF is known to have a significant preventative effect in heart disease and a range of cancers.13 14 15
